Regardless of the situation, no matter how hopeless the outcome may be, I will never quit, and I will never back down. I have become the wolf.

Seven days in the hospital makes one weak….

Tuesday before last  I went in for my normal chemo.  I felt like dog poop and probably looked almost as attractive as I felt.  My  oncologist took one look at me and told me that we were  skipping chemo and going directly into a hospital bed.  I was so dehydrated from vomiting that I could barely stand up.  So, I spent seven days in.  I don’t remember much about it, I slept a lot and the pain meds always help.  So now I’m home and getting ready for the Holidays.

I have a question.  I was watching one of my cooking shows the other day and the theme was Holiday.  This is the show where four chefs are given “mystery baskets” and have to use all ingredients in a dish.  By process of elimination they determine a winner.  If the theme is Holiday, who’s to say the chef’s had to do December themed Holiday food.  I would have gone totally off the cliff and done Easter or Halloween.  They did not specify which holiday or what month that holiday had to fall in.

The great news by far this month, the rockingest news is that Joe and I have just signed up for a ten-day cruise. I can’t believe it. After we missed our trip to Ireland due to his knee, We were so lucky to get last-minute air fare and cruise prices. The ship leaves out of Miami on Monday, Yep, two days. Good think I know how to pack. I’ve set everything out and just have to put 1/2 of it back.

OK, I put back half and I still have a ton too much.  10 days is a lot of ground to cover.  Got to make sure I pack a hat and sunscreen.  I have my white masks and my tea tree oil  mix for the flight and the crowded areas on the ship.  I’m determined not to get sick again.

This is so exciting, I think we’ve only been to two of these ports so we get new places to explore.  We leave out of Miami, then Nassau, Ocho Rios, Grand Cayman, Roatan, Belize, Cozumel then back to Miami.  The temperature is between 76 and 84 but I’m still taking sweaters and warm clothes.  I get cold so easily, but I’m getting smarter.  Lots of leggings to wear under dresses with boots and my strappy stiletto heels.

So if you are looking for us between the 10th and the 21st, don’t bother. We will be cruising Mexico, drinking rum punches and howling at the moon. Senior Frogs, look out. I wonder how many we can hit this year.  I’m glad there won’t be as much walking as there would have been in Ireland.

I’m so glad I worked so hard to finish mom’s room before Thanksgiving.  She’s coming down to stay with the house and MIL and Oscar.  Everything just fell into place to create the perfect vacation timing.

I’m off to shed more clothes from the “pack me” pile.  Have a great night all.  I doubt I’ll sleep much.

Weekends were made for this.

Had a really nice weekend.  Very calm and relaxing.  My heart and spirit are happy and rested.  Now I have to rest the rest of me.

Drove down to Columbus to see C & L and the Grands.  I so love hanging out with them.  This time was so nice and calm.  Friday night we had chicken kabobs on the grill and rice and it was perfect.  I ate everything but one piece of onion.  It was so good.  Then we had a fire in the pit and just sat and talked.  I even stayed up till after 10:30.

Of course Saturday I slept in late.  Harp promptly  informed me that I was the house lazy bones, even Sissy beat me awake.  We spent the day just puttering around the house.  Hanging out outside while the kids came and went.  Watch C&L tear up their front grass.  Took tons of pictures and ninja videos of everyone.

Anyone have a good suggestion for a piece of software that will help me splice tons of little video clips into one movie?  I haven’t found one yet.  I have hundreds of video clips and need an easy software.

Anyway, Saturday night we went to dinner at a “famous German Sausage restaurant” in Columbus.  Joe and I had watch a Food Network show that featured this particular place and Joe thought it would be a good place to go for dinner.  It had looked really good on TV.  However, once we got there the choices looked kinda sad and overdone.  I ended up ordering off the menu, which turned out to be a really good idea since my sandwich was really good.  Smoked ham on a pretzel roll.  I ate half of it and was stuffed.  After, we took a great tour of downtown Columbus then went back home to hang out.

Sunday morning was beautiful.  Got up early and just enjoyed the house waking up.  I love listening to the little ones chatter away.  Harper made me a handmade card with hearts in it.  I’ve already hung it on my board downstairs.  He also gave me flowers and pictures.  I was so touched by how thoughtful they were.  It was a really great morning.

We e took our time getting home and just hung out for the rest of the night.  I think the most important thing about this weekend is that I forgot to be sick for a couple of days.  Little ones don’t care.  They just wanted Grandma B to run around the house with them and Oscar.

Today is putz in the backyard day and rest up.  Catching up on laundry and draining the pit.  Have a lovely day everyone.  Enjoy the sunshine.  Fill up on those wonderful D’s.

Just took my first glass blowing class, I’m hooked

I’ve always known that hot glass and I were meant to be.  I’ve been a pyro for as long as I could remember.  I was always the one who could get the fire going the fastest, who’s coals burned hotter and longer.

I guess it helps that I’m a Leo.  A fire sign for sure.

Anyway, this amazing place called The Glass Academy In Dearborn, held a “sample” class today.  We each got to blow a bubble on a blow pipe (one lung here did better than expected on that one). And we got to make a paper weight that I get to pick up next week.  Controlling that amount of hot glass is incredible.  I would encourage every lampworker to take a blowing sample class.  I really got a feel for how boro works when it’s amazingly hot.  I was amazed at how stiff it was even at over 1200 degrees.  I did love plunging in the pliers and twisting and creating the core.  And since Karen and I were both experienced with warm glass they really let us handle the pipes more than the other people.  For example, the instructor would take the punty from them to reheat the gather.  He would let Karen and I do it ourselves.  It really was a fabulous experience and I’m so glad I took the opportunity.  I almost passed it up.

Sometimes the Gods spam you for a reason.

Some quick photo’s then off to sleepy.

Thanks again to everyone at Glass Academy for making my day memorable.  You’ll probably see me again.

I just got the best gift ever

Two weeks of mental and heartfelt fighting spirit was just handed to me.  C. brought both of the kids by and we played for hours.  I know I should have spent more time talking to C. and Joe, but I love seeing my grand babies and the changes that occur in between each time we see them.

H. is becoming more and more verbose every time I see him.  Today  I got a full dissertation concerning Whale Sharks including chalk drawings and everything.  I also learned about symbiotic relationships (A symbiotic relationship is one in which one organism lives off another and both organisms either benefit, or there is no detrimental effect to either organism. An example of this is mistletoe or spanish moss living off of a tree.) between animals.  Keep in mind that he’s only 4.  I also got a full demonstration of all he’s learning in Karate.  I get such a thrill out of him cause everything he does is so exciting and thrilling and he gets such joy out of retelling the stories and the facts.  And I love to encourage him.  I ask him questions and if he know, he’ll tell me.  If he doesn’t know the answer, he’ll tell me “Gramma, I’m not sure, I’ll tell you next time”.  And he does.  He remembers and answers my questions.   He loves making up games and having me play the bad guy, ’cause he’s always good.

I. is becoming a little girlie girl.  I picked her up a doll to play with and she carried the baby all over the house.  She’s starting to talk so well.  She calls me Umma (the only spelling close to what I think she’s saying).  Her beautiful face gets prettier every time I see her.  She has a glowing radiance of a very happy, well-loved child.  The best part of seeing her is the huge smile that spreads crossed her face every time she sees you.  Her arms go out and she wants “Love”.  I’m more than happy to provide it, all day long.  Gramma got a new rocking chair and she discovered that if we snuggle on it, it rocks better so every time I sat in it, she crawled on my lap.  The best part was when she would point to the pink tat on my chest and say “Me” and point to herself, then she’d point to the blue star and say “Harp”, then pat her hand on her heart and say “love”.   Those two little bug butts are going to keep me around for a long time.

C. looked good.  Like he’s losing some weight and firming up.  Joe is also looking a bit smaller in the overhang area.  They both work too hard.  Like father, like son.  I was just so happy to see him and get a big hug.  Nothing arms you better for battle than a good strong hug.

Dinner last night was amazing.  The Whitney is one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever seen.  The detail in the architecture is spectacular.  The food was delicious (except for a few undercooked scallops).  We left happy and full.  Mom didn’t get home till after 11:00 so Joe waited up for her, I went to bed at 10:30 and racked out when my head hit the pillow.

BTW, the shoes rocked.  The most comfortable “strappy” shoes I’ve ever worn.  I’m going to try to get a picture.

Huggs to everyone.  I hope your weekend is a great as mine, and if it’s not, drop me an e-mail and I’ll add you to my prayer and white light list.

Aside

Once upon a time…..

in a far away place there was a happy woman who lived in an enchanted castle with her handsome prince and her beloved fuzzy babies.  Then one day the evil enchantress decided that enough was enough and no-one deserved to be as happy as she was, so the evil one cast a spell on her to make her sick and waste away.  But the Happy one was a fighter and won the first battle with the evil one.   Everything went back to “semi” normal in the enchanted area where the happy couple resided.  The evil one however, was not done with our heroine.  She revisited the spell upon the happy one, this time making it harder and harder to fight.  But she is a fighter, and will fight till the last breath.
